This semi-professional orchestra brings live symphonic music to the Lake Chapala area in Mexico.
The orchestra had its very first rehearsal on October 14, 2018 with a total of 13 players in attendance. Originally called the Lake Chapala Community Orchestra it is now known as the Lake Chapala Orchestra and numbers over 50 musicians from the Lake Chapala area and Guadalajara.
The orchestra was formed to provide local musicians the opportunity to rehearse and perform music from the orchestral repertoire in an environment that fosters co-operation and inclusivity, and provide the Lakeside area with live symphonic music. In 2022 the LCO started to integrate professional musicians into the ensemble with the desired intent of moving the orchestra forward in its technical and musical ability.
The orchestra gives seven concerts a year and has a large following within the Lake Chapala area resulting in consistently sold out performances.
