The Lake Chapala Orchestra (LCO) has become a cultural jewel in the Lakeside area. From its beginnings in October 2018, as a purely amateur ensemble, it has rapidly expanded into a fully fledged semi-professional symphony orchestra under the direction of Michael Reason. Comprising a mix of experienced professional musicians, young students and talented community players, the orchestra rehearses once a week and performs at least six concerts a year.
Every orchestra faces funding challenges to cover its many expenses. For example our ticket sales account for only 50% of the necessary financing to cover our annual expenditure. Our donor/sponsor program enables area residents to join a program that will support the orchestra in maintaining its financial goals and its ongoing vision of providing live symphonic music to the community.
Supporter Level - $3,000 per year
About the Young Musician Support Program
The LCO encourages talented young musicians to participate in the orchestra. Several of these students travel from Guadalajara to Ajijic every week for rehearsals at their own expense. In addition to gaining orchestral experience, each student is partnered with a senior member of the orchestra who acts as a mentor. We are looking for donors who would be interested in sponsoring one of these talented students.
A sponsorship will provide each young musician with the funds to underwrite their travel expenses along with a small stipend to reward their contribution to the orchestra. Providing support to our young musicians will ensure that their musical education continues to flourish within our orchestral setting.
Young Musician Support Program - $7,500 per year
Benefactor Level - $10,000 per year
About the Principal Player Sponsorship
Our Principal Player Sponsorship program gives you the opportunity to be a part of our development process by supporting a particular musician. Each instrument section in an orchestra has a leader known as the Principal Player. For example, the 1st clarinet is the principal clarinet and the cellist who sits to the immediate right of the conductor is the principal cellist. Every principal player advises his or her section on numerous technical or musical challenges that may arise during rehearsals. The violinist who is to the immediate left of the conductor is not just the principal 1st violinist but is also known as the Concertmaster. The Concertmaster is basically 2nd in command to the conductor. Equating this to the business world makes the concertmaster the Chief Operating Officer to the Conductor’s Managing Director position. Most of our principal players are paid professionals who lend their musical experience and technical expertise to assist in the development of the LCO.
Principal Player Sponsorship - $12,000 per year:
